-My Experience-

My first degree, a B.Ed. Hons , was gained at Cambridge University and subsequently I’ve acquired an M.A. in English. Throughout my career in school settings, I’ve taught in one London borough and two counties.  My roles have given me a tremendous breadth of experience, leading most curricular subjects, including the core subjects of English, maths and science and progressing in senior managerial roles to Deputy Headteacher and Assistant Headteacher.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed many years working in both state and independent school settings, and I’ve gained a huge amount of experience teaching and learning from students aged 5-18. I have worked with students who have a broad spectrum of abilities and needs; I passionately believe in making education accessible to all pupils.

Educational trends come and go, but there is only one constant for a committed teacher: EVERY child matters. As a private tutor I’m able to devote my time to your child’s individual needs, to listen to their concerns, diagnose weaker areas, provide immediate feedback and develop a tailor-made programme of work that suits just them. There should never be ceilings or limits to possibility regarding a child’s potential to learn and to acquire skills.

As a teacher it’s very important to establish trust in order to inspire confidence.  It can be daunting when surrounded by others to ask for help or admit to difficulties.  In large groups some children are in danger of ‘slipping under the radar.’ Frustration can snowball into anxiety and/or disengagement regarding lessons.  As a one-to-one tutor, I can create a space where learning is always unthreatening, non-judgemental, pitched at the correct pace for your child and also fun! Happiness is key to any learning.

It’s a privilege to be a teacher.  I love teaching; my aim is to encourage your child to love learning.
